Health is the most desirable treasure, given to most of us at birth. Very often we take it for granted, thinking not too much about it whilst young. Many of us believe that failing health is a normal process of ageing, but this is not necessarily so, as many people live to a great age whilst still enjoying good health.

What is health?
Health could be defined as a Life Free of Pain (physical or mental).

Metabolic Balance of all your body’s systems. By assessing you as “the whole person”, Nutritional Therapy would not ask “what is the illness you are suffering?” Instead, it will:

1. recognise what sort of individual you are;
2. identify the distinctive set of biochemical imbalances in your body;
3. apply therapies like diet, food supplements and exercise, based on the most up-to-date scientific research;
4. coach you through your Health Improving Plan with care and compassion.

As a Nutritional Therapist I understand that optimal gastrointestinal functioning is the key to metabolic equilibrium and overall health. My role as a therapist is to recognise and bring to your understanding possible obstacles to this equilibrium, such as dysbiosis (microbial imbalances within the body), which may manifest itself not only as digestive problems (bloating, gas, constipation, chronic diarrhoea), but affect skin health (acne, pimples, rash, eczema, psoriasis) or the female genital system (thrush, cystitis). Needless to mention that overgrowth of pathogenic bacteria induces inflammation in the gut, impairing absorption of nutrients that may result in a variety of aliments.

A healthy endocrine system is a part of metabolic equilibrium, which also relies on optimal gastrointestinal health (and visa versa!) It assists you in adapting to the pressures of modern lifestyle, coping with stress, promoting emotional well-being and supports male and female hormonal health. The majority of female pre-menstrual complaints (pre-menstrual pain, breast tenderness, irritability, mood swings, heavy bleeding) may be avoided when your endocrine system operates at its optimum potential. Furthermore it provides tolerance to a wide range of foods, therefore leaving us with lesser chance to suffer from joint pain, asthma, eczema, allergies, chronic fatigue, depression, brain fogginess and weight gain. If this tolerance could not possibly be achieved for some reason, as a Nutritional Therapist I may help you to avoid and replace those foods. This can be a difficult area to manage without adequate guidance. I employ my knowledge of foods, food concentrates and biological agents (probiotics) to assist you in gaining the body’s normal state of optimal balance –the MetaBalance.
